Médico Veterinario y Doctor en Ciencias (PhD) de la Universidad de Chile. En la actualidad José ocupa el cargo de Decano y Profesor Titular de la Facultad de Ciencias Veterinarias y Pecuarias de la Universidad de Chile.  José lidera un grupo de investigación y asesorías en genética y genómica acuícola, enfocado en implementar nuevas estrategias para potenciar de forma sostenible la producción acuícola mediante el mejoramiento genético y la selección genómica en Chile y América Latina. José ha participado como investigador principal y co-investigador de diversos proyectos de I+D+i financiados por diferentes agencias nacionales e internacionales, incluyendo CONICYT-ANID y CORFO (Chile), Newton Fund y RCUK (Reino Unido), Genome Canada, Genome BC y Genome Quebec (Canadá), ANSO (China), IAEA (Austria), FAPESP (Brasil), entre otros.

A biologist by training, Dr. Prist holds a master's, doctorate and post-doctorate in landscape ecology from the University of São Paulo, with a sandwich period at Columbia University, United States, and the University of Queensland, Australia. Dr. Prist leads the IUCN thematic group of human health (300 - 1000 members), is a Co-Lead Author of the next IPBES Nexus, a member of the International Program Officer for the Future Earth One Health group and part of the STAR-IDAZ & GloPID-R - One Health Working Group. Her line of research focuses on trying to understand how habitat loss and fragmentation, and the configuration of remaining native vegetation areas and climate change affect biodiversity and the provision of ecosystem services, including regulating services aimed at maintaining human health. Some of the topics of interest are how land use changes and the different dynamics of the landscape affect human health. How climate change is affected by land use change and this synergistic effect affects biodiversity and human health. Her long-term plan is to contribute to the development of high-quality research to understand how conservation can contribute to the maintenance of human health and how the management of tropical landscapes can be done to create landscapes with low risk of transmission of zoonotic diseases and high maintenance of human health.

Adalberto Luis Val, a senior researcher with INPA-Brazilian National Institute for Research of the Amazon since 1981, studies biological adaptations of fish of the Amazon, including effects of climate changes, to support biodiversity conservation programs, food security efforts and fish farming. He supervised 120+ students and authored 230+ articles and book chapters. Among his books are Fishes of the Amazon, Springer Verlag (1995) and The Physiology of Tropical Fishes, Academic Press (2006). He delivered 150+ seminars and conferences worldwide. He acted as a General Director of INPA/MCTI for eight years (2006-2014) and is coordinating the INCT ADAPTA Project. His laboratory has been supported by Brazilian funding agencies (CNPq, CAPES, FAPEAM) and foreign organizations (Copper Association, The Leverhulme Trust). He is a member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, member of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), and has been awarded the Gran Cross of the National Order of Scientific Merit (Brazil) and the Award of Excellence of the American Fisheries Society-Physiology Section (USA), among others.

 

Graduação em Oceanologia pela Fundação Universidade Federal do Rio Grande, mestrado e doutorado em Ciência dos Alimentos pela Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. Professor/pesquisador do IFSC/Itajaí/SC no Mestrado Profissional em Clima e Ambiente. Membro Ad Hoc no Grupo de resíduos e contaminantes em recursos pesqueiros, do MAPA. Representante do IFSC no Comitê estadual de controle higiênico sanitário de moluscos bivalves, em Santa Catarina.  Desenvolve pesquisas nos seguintes temas: Ficotoxinas em pescado, Ficotoxinas emergentes, Doença de Haff, especialmente na identificação e quantificação de ficotoxinas em pescado através de métodos LC-MS/MS.
